Proverbs 23:15-16

My son, if your heart is wise, My own heart also will be glad; And my inmost being will rejoice When your lips speak what is right.
Proverbs 23:15-16 NASB

Our prayer: Let us rejoice in the plans You have for our children, and help us to guide them properly.
Our prayer: Let us rejoice in the plans You have for our children, and help us to guide them properly.

When one of our children does something sinful, it is tough to see and then deal with effectively, especially if we are embarrassed or hurt personally in the process. Ultimately, however, we desire not to be made proud or happy through our children’s behavior but to see them grow in love and in wisdom and in their relationships with the Lord. Situations occur when I have been embarrassed by something that has happened, and then I realize that the Lord is using this very thing to bring my child closer to Him. It can be tough, but when I get over myself and out of His way, He can work mightily in their lives. Mamas, we need to let God do His work. We need to be praying; we need to be consistent; we need to be willing to step out of the extensive conversation mode and simply point out the wise choice and move on. Our children deserve our training, our wisdom, and our love.
