Proverbs 22:9

Proverbs 22

He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor.
Proverbs 22:9 NASB

Our prayer: Show us more how to love you and to serve others.
Our prayer: Show us more how to love you and to serve others.

Most of us have heard of many great organizations that give to the poor and help take care of those in need. We often close our eyes and ears to what is going on, however, because getting involved is messy. We need to be praying for those who run these organizations. We need to see if we or our small group can help in small ways. We need to jump in with both feet if God equips us to be ministering along side them in a more involved manner.

In a different strain, sometimes, we need to give up our “family fun” time in the front yard playing ball because clearly the little girl who keeps running over and smiling more towards and talking more with us parents needs something she is not receiving at home. (No judgment!) She is poor in spirit in that moment, and we can be generous with our smiles and our recognition.

We must choose to be intentional to be generous if it is not in our natural inclination to be so, and we must wisely give to those who are need. Here are some organizations in middle Tennessee where you can get involved.
